Have you ever asked yourself…
…why me? I think that most of us have at some point or another in our lives.
And on his 25th work anniversary, they gave myDarlin' Robert Kenui Popethe choice of a watch or to choose a gift from a catalog. Funny thing is that he didn’t consult with me as he normally would and chose a Tiffany (yes the aqua box) lead crystal bowl. In retrospect, it makes sense for a chef to choose a serving dish. And he filled it with cherries…. after all, ‘Life’s just a bowl of cherries.’

Hindsight is 20/20 and perhaps rightfully so. I can see clearly now the rain is gone, I can see all obstacles in my way. Both myDarlin’s and my journey of life until the point we met had its’ challenges, in a strikingly similar way. The journey included young love, children and marriage, divorce, abusive relationships (no longer in either of our lives), job relocations and starting over. During this journey, our faith in God was reinforced and our values were put to the test. That’s why…..
Was it serendipity that brought us together or just God being anonymous? For every step of our journey was designed to allow us to learn life’s lessons and use that knowledge to help others along the way. We both knew that at this point in our lives that fussing and fighting didn’t have a place, as those things normally don’t matter in five years, or for that matter one. Our love and trust grew moment by moment, day by day, year by year into a timeless eternity. That’s why…..
And while I know that I don’t speak for everyone, I can tell you this truth holds true for us. Life is about the journey, and how you travel on the road to God’s promise land. Today I am grateful that myDarlin’ chose a Tiffany bowl to fill with cherries, and those cherries were the rich experiences on the journey of life. That’s why…..
