Many hands…
make light work is an old proverb they say. (who the heck is ‘they’ anyway?) And over the past few days, I’ve seen examples first hand. As we’ve prepped for holiday gatherings, everyone has pitched in. And it all starts with the list of tasks to be done. People inherently want to help if given the opportunity, then couple that with people who are friends and the possibilities are endless.
As myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope would set up for a gig, or we would tear down – there was no visible list – but through routine, one learns the order in which to proceed. We all had our jobs; mine being mics, stands, flags, guitars/basses. And I would ask, ‘What can I do for you?’ when finished, as my intentions were to make the work lighter for myDarlin’. During this, and our life, it was as if a dance of communication and consideration made everything fall perfectly into place.
Today, as I reflect on all of the holiday gatherings of friends, I am filled with gratitude as I see myDarlin’ giving all of us a high five for pitching in and making light work for everyone.
