Gratitude Journal – Day 134 – November 12, 2014

Did you hear me…
cry out “I love you” as you left your earthly body? Did you hear me whisper, “I love you” as I held your hand as you lie there in the hospital? Did you read the words I wrote in my last letter to you that I tucked in your shirt before they took you away? “I love you.”
Did you know that you are the love I waited all of my life for? And the summer of 2003 as I walked in Central Park, I had the street vendor write on a linen scroll, “I always knew that I would find you” and had it framed in red for the entry way. Do you remember your heart pillow from the hospital on which I wrote, “You are my heart”?, the heart I drew on the steamed shower door, or scraped in the ice on your truck? Did you see the framed chalkboard I bought at a yard sale and wrote “I heart U” on it? And the chalkboard wall that I drew ‘Pope – Love spoken here’?
Did you see me look at you, with an I love you from across the room as you played on stage? Do you remember me whispering “I love you” in your ear as I would leave for work on your day off or as I lay my head on your shoulder at the end of a night?
Did you hear me?
And I hear you every day as I wake up to hear you say, “Good Morning Baby, I love you” on the message you sent to me during the Spring of this year. And I know that you heard me, as you continue to send hearts our way in the form of a rock, a cloud and a song that wakes me from my slumber….
Love, love, love
Love, love, love
There's nothing you can know that isn't known
Nothing you can see that isn't shown
There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be
It's easy
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love
Love is all you need
Today I am grateful for myDarlin’s love for me; a love that transcends time and continues to envelop my very being as I hear a train whistle in the background against the sound of the fan of my laptop in a quiet, quiet house. And God’s love for us is the gift of the eternal promise, where I will once again hear myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope say to me, “I love you”.
