Soulshine….
‘better than sunshine’… keeps playing over and over in my head, ‘better than moonshine, damn sure better than rain.’ And I looked around the room, wondering if this song was resonating with anyone else in the same way it was with me. Each of our journeys are unique, but then again not as much as we may choose to believe. Ahhhh…. and is it the choice to believe that makes our journeys different?
And when we truly believe, it is our soulshine that others see, just like the children’s song, ‘this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.’ That little light is what guides us when we are going through the dark and rainy moments of life. I can’t help but hear myDarlin’s voice every time it rains… ‘it’s only water Sheri…’ And the water is the sea, our bodies and that which cleanses us.
I closed my eyes as I held the camera up to my eyes, and could see myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope smiling at me with that ear to ear grin of his. And he didn’t have to say a word, I could see his soulshine through the twinkle of his eye.
Today I am grateful for the gift of soulshine, for it is free for the asking. I take a sip of coffee and get ready to begin my day, as I trace over the words with my fingertips. ‘Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ Joshua 1:9
