Gratitude Journal – Day 190 – January 7, 2015

Many hands make the work….
lighter. As many of us sat in a meeting a couple of days before vacation, I mentioned a video shoot and he told me that it was on his bucket list to be in one. How convenient I told him, as we needed to cast a diverse talent pool. And not only could I grant him his wish (sounds like I’m a genie, right?), but he wanted to assist in casting the rest of the video as well. Perfect, I was about to go on vacation and I had a willing participant to take on this task.
And upon my return yesterday, I found that he had perfectly planned the talent, our co-workers, to bring the proper attire and arrive at the expected time. As they arrived, there was a sense of excitement that filled the air as I watched each one of our associates listen intently to the directions and follow them to a T. She said to me, this is so exciting to get to see this side of the business and to meet so many new people. And it was then that I realized that what may be work to us, may be an adventure to others.
As I look in the rearview mirror at today, I am filled with gratitude for him having made the work lighter for me at a time when I really needed help. And a lesson that I learned is that we don’t always have to look within our own team to do the work at hand, but to reach out to others to as they may enjoy the opportunity. And then I thought about this a bit more, and realized that myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope sent me a gentle reminder that even though he is not here to help me himself, all I’ve got to do is to just ask and our Lord will always be there with a helping hand.
If you got a problem, don't care what it is
You need a hand, I can assure you of this, I can help
I got two strong arms, I can help
It would shore do me good to do you good, let me help
