You vs. You
I pasted in the middle of my Vision Board this afternoon. I already have made two within the past couple of months, so thought that I would focus on my ‘Bucket List’. And the group of ladies that gathered has so much to share with each other and the world.
Before we started, we ‘threw all of our troubles into a box, and then began the heart breathing. “Think of your breath flowing in and out of your heart, then feel the gratitude your heart has for giving it your attention.” As I held my hand over my heart, I smiled as now I knew that there is a name for what I already instinctively do every day.
We gathered, feasting on goodies everyone brought to share, and I thought to myself – this is what ‘community looks like’. Coming together to get to know each other better, and to share in an activity to learn more about ourselves.
On the TimeHop app, on this – the very day we gathered to do our Vision Boards, this photo came across. My Bucket List from 2011 is the same as it is today, but is really more of a mantra by which I live.

Be – just being you is enough, don’t try to be someone that you are not.
Imagine – the sky’s the limit. Imagine the life you want for yourself.
Do – your actions speak louder than words. Do what comes naturally, work hard – live your values.
Explore – new horizons, take a different path – be unpredictable in a fun playful kind of way.
Share – the wealth, the love, your knowledge with others and watch the boomerang effect manifest.
Love – deeply, freely and without abandon.
Learn – stretch…. challenge yourself to learn a new skill or fact every day
This Vision Board is aptly titled, ‘Embrace the Journey’; for this life here is all about the journey and not the destination, as our journey determines our destination. And it is ‘You vs. You’ today and every day of your life. You determine where you will go and what steps you will take to get there. For even as you turn it over to God to do the heavy lifting, you still have to be willing to follow his lead.
Today I am filled with gratitude as I look back at the bucket list that I created four years ago today, as it represents the life that myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope and I lived every day; our mantra of ‘work hard, play hard.’ And I challenge you to ‘embrace the journey’, knowing that it’s ‘You vs. You’ in this ring of life. And when you let God do the heavy lifting, You will be the victor!
