Those were the days…..
my friend, we thought they’d never end. We’d sing and laugh forever and a day….. she sang as the crowd joined in. And this community of musicians, from all walks of life gathered tonight as every week before. Another Open Mic, like so many others happening simultaneously around this town, our nation, and even around the world; with musicians both experienced and new to the craft, bearing their souls to share their music.
And yet another musician sang one of my favorite songs of today’s times, Happy. I am immediately taken back to one morning in church when the band, with you myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope on bass, surprised the congregation by including this song in a medley. And soon children and adults alike were dancing in the aisle, praising our Lord. And you were smiling that big grin of yours as our eyes met.
Today, I am grateful for the gift of music that others so freely share. And I pray for blessings for the music community that they may continue to create and share their God given gifts and talents, making this big blue and green ball a better place to live.
