Random thoughts on….
an ordinary day that turned out to be not so ordinary at all. Community, music, boxing, photographs, learning, beginnings and endings. So many things running through my mind and sleep does not come easily.
I gather my cameras, pay my tab and say goodnight to my friends, slip my key into the ignition and head down the road towards home. Life is happening all around me, I am a both a witness and participant.
And he returned to work today, as difficult as it must be to leave his little ones, twin girls just under one and a half pounds. And I pray for God’s hand to cradle these precious lives as they begin their journey.
And two of our grandsons fought the first match for the national championship, an accomplishment having made it this far. One will finish the week cheering the other on as he won his match. And life is about the journey, the experience.
And things I thought I knew, I found I didn’t – and that is OK, because every day is an adventure in learning. Learning processes and systems, but more importantly about others and ourselves. And it is this cumulative learning and experiences that make us who we are, and allow us to grow every day.
I began the day praying for one of myDarlin’s friend as he underwent open heart surgery and learned later in the afternoon that he made it through with flying colors, and I thank God for his gifts and his grace on his road of recovery. This evening I snapped a photograph, and moments later found myself and others praying for a dear man whom I never met, but played the most beautiful, soulful music. I pray that God will give his Ohana strength as they make this journey.
Let there be music. She re-opened the doors where this music community of ours gathers; for friendship and the sheer joy of sharing their talents with others. And the Facebook page of another of our gathering spots was taken down months after the stage lights myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope installed were turned off and their doors closed forever.
Tonight my Lord, I look to the sky and am grateful for community, experiencing life’s journey of beginnings and endings. And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.
