In the blink of an eye…
at any given moment - your life could change forever. The day started like so many before…. myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope kissed me goodbye and I don’t remember it at all. I was sleeping on the early Monday morning two years ago when he left at 4:00am to prepare a banquet for a monthly county gathering. He was always early to work…..
A slow start to the day for me; at the intersection at 7:37am, I was the first car at the stop light, and then my phone rang. Not recognizing the phone #, I dismissed it. And as I crossed the bridge the voice mail notification rang…. I listed to the voice in disbelief, your husband is on his way to the hospital she said as I passed over the bridge and I turned immediately into the hospital parking lot.
A day, a memory so vivid in my mind, yet one that I wish had never come to pass. And in that waiting room, amidst everything going on, there appeared two prayer warriors. Looking back, I’m sure their wings were hidden by the coats they wore. And she prayed,…for the great physician to guide the surgeons hands and that God would give me peace. And as my fingertips float over the keys just now, I realize that when one calls upon the name of the Lord and asks for peace and strength, that he freely pours it over our head. And from that moment on, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that myDarlin’ would come through with flying colors.
The moments, the hours, the days that passed were carefully scripted by our Lord….. and he gave his testimony on Easter morning at the Lake And there wasn’t a dry eye in the place as myDarlin’ shared his story… One of faith, adventure and healing. And as his story traveled around the web, people asked, who is this man?
Today I am filled with gratitude for the time that myDarlin’ and I had together, for the wonderful man he was and the legacy he leaves behind for all to see and feel. And as we waited two years ago for him to come out of surgery, we knew that every little thing’s gonna be alright.
