Gratitude Journal – Day 252 – March 10, 2015

Making the World a Better Place…..
and I thought to myself, children really do learn what they live as one of my dear grandsons explained his plan for doing just that. From working out with his Dad, my son, in their gym to the boxing ring, he is quite the fighter, but step outside of the arena and he is a gentle, kind soul.
Last night he said to me, “You know I’m an inventor, right? So, I’m going to make a factory for others inventors so you don’t have to take 40 years to make an invention. It will be M-T-W-B-P, and it stands for making the world a better place.
And there will be two different kinds of Elijah-bots; the first ones are going to be for war, but after the war is done they’ll turn to pieces of metal just like they started out. And there’s other the Elijah-bots that don’t have any weapons or anything; they just help the people in my lab do stuff. The people in my lab are going to be other scientists, but it’s not going to be like a 40 year thing, it’s like a touch screen and if it doesn’t turn out like you expected it to be, you get to put your head in this thingy that can read your mind about how you wanted it to be or expected it to be. If it doesn’t work, it’s because it’s too dangerous to use. So it will take your idea and make it better and not dangerous.
And every year the Elijah-bots just go around helping, but if you have a super cool idea like a car that doesn’t need any gas or oil or electric power – it just goes…. And if there’s no other good ideas, they could win, but the only one would an H-E-B, that’s helping Elijah-bots.” Great invention Elijah!
And next came the best holiday invention of all…
“We should make a holiday for us, called group hug day for us. We’ll get everyone who can make it, let’s just say at 3:30, we’ll do a big group hug with everybody in it– but we’re probably going to have to do it outside because it’s going to be big – or we could do it down stairs…. Yeah”
Today I am grateful for the simple wisdom of a child’s mind. For if more of us thought on such simple terms, the world wouldn’t be such a challenging place. I thought back to Elijah’s words as he expressed what he missed most about myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope, his Tutu Chef and he said, ‘just being with him’ and realize that so many of us feel the same way as he always made the world a better place.
