Gratitude Journal – Day 247 – March 5, 2105

Gone too early….
was my little sister Mary. I can still remember the call from my Father, and I cried out in disbelief. There must be some mistake I said. Today would have been her 38th birthday I think to myself as I look at one of my favorite photos of the girl I remember so well. If I were to introduce her to you today, what I wrote I on her online tribute wall would only begin to tell you about this kind, yet complex soul.
During her young adulthood, she began building her world-wide network of friends, whom she thought of as family. Working the spring, summer and part of the fall at Yellowstone National Park and then in the port of Skagway, Alaska allowed her to travel the world during the remainder of the year. She visited family and friends all over the states on her way to her world travels, and mesmerized all with her tales of the experiences she had and people she met in Peru, Europe and Africa. Mary lived the life that many only dream of. Material possessions meant little to this young woman, but friends and family meant everything.
Today I am grateful for having had the great privilege of having been a part of Mary's life and know that she felt the same about all of us. Mary, May you find peace and comfort in the arms of the Creator.
