Ohana….
what does it mean to you? Family, community, nobody gets left behind? To me, it’s all of these and so much more than words can even begin to describe. And yesterday, I got a message with another wonderful way to say Ohana from a team member of mine at the Orange place in which I am proud to have worked for many, many years. When a class of our leaders was asked what our company’s culture means to them, here is what they said:
O – Orange blooded
H – Honesty
A – Accomplished
N – Never Quit
A – Appreciation
H – Honesty
A – Accomplished
N – Never Quit
A – Appreciation
So much more than words can describe, yet they managed to do just that. And it’s messages like this that lets me know that our culture is alive and well, and we can truly make a difference in the lives of our teams and our community.
When I met myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope, he was so excited that he really liked me AND that I had a job… a GOOD job as he told his friends… Looking back, I think that he would agree that this is much more than a job, it’s our Ohana!
Today I am grateful that God directed my steering wheel into that parking lot of a new concept warehouse store over 28 years ago. As I stepped over the threshold into a concrete and orange steel racking jungle filled with orange aprons hanging from the shoulders of smiling faces, I knew that life would never be the same.
