are you coming to bed?” I hear myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope ask as he gently wakes me from dozing at the computer while downloading photos from the evening. “It’s late and I have to get up early tomorrow, or should I say today?” I smile and we walk to the bedroom, where he always lies closest to the door. (I’ve read that to do so is instinct for males to protect females.) And so I go to my side of the bed, slide under the crisp sheets and set my alarm, while he does the same and plugs his phone in to charge overnight. And I reach my feet over to his as we fall asleep knowing that today was wonderful and tomorrow holds the promise of the same love. And this song began to
play on the iHome…

And I open my eyes to find myself at the computer, photos downloaded, realizing it was a dream. I walk to the bedroom, and plug the phone in to charge before slipping under the crisp sheets on his side of the bed. Tonight I am grateful for the blessings of eleven wonderful years of love, kindness and laughter with mySoulmate. And until I go home, I will always be yours myDarlin’.
