Writers block....
As I sit here, fingers lightly perched upon the keys, waiting for inspiration to flow I look around the room. The portable Bose blue tooth speaker with the orange cover plays Beginnings by Chicago.
When I'm with you, it doesn't matter where we are
Or what we're doing. I'm with you, that's all that matters
Time passes much too quickly when we're together laughing
Or what we're doing. I'm with you, that's all that matters
Time passes much too quickly when we're together laughing
For a moment, I close my eyes and can see myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Popeplaying with Kona. That big grin of his covers his face as he looks around the room. And I think of what he said to me after one gig. “You should see the view from up here.” And I can hear him say that same thing to me now. “You should see the view from up here”
My eyes travel to the table where a book called Ever Wonder is open to a page that asks: If you give all your love away, what do you have left? I would submit to all of you, my dear Ohana, that you have ten times what you started with.
Directly beside the book is a box of quotes and this one is on top:
We are not on earth to see how important we can become, but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others. – Gordon B. Hinckleuy
Wow is all I have to say. Making a difference in the lives of others is what myDarlin’ loved to do and what he did so well in his everyday life. And I think about a conversation that we had when we moved into the house. You see, we loved the fact that the house is laid out perfectly for parties and jams, and it his us at the same time. Why not include a worthwhile cause with our parties, and thus the Tools for School and Toys for Tots were put into play. Not only are our friends talented, they are extremely generous too and want to make a difference in the lives of others.
And finally, I look to the notebook with the aqua cover adorned with birds, flowers and the words ‘Trust in the Lord’ and I smile. It was the day after myDarlin’ left that all of our kids arrived. As they went to the store to pick some things up, I asked for a notebook to keep track of everything. And this is what they brought back to me. I’ve written so much in this notebook, from what I wanted to say at myDarlin’s service, to details to be taken care of, to remembrances of things he used to say. And each time I do, I am reminded to trust in the Lord.
Today I am filled with gratitude as I think of myDarlin’s view. He certainly does have a great view now, a view that matches his love for me and for you dear Ohana.
