Pure….

No hidden agendas or motives, transparent, what you see is what you get. That was myDarlin’ – pure. For any that met him, you know of what I speak. I believe that it was serendipity, God’s will that brought our lives together eleven years ago and for that I am forever grateful.
We all face trials and tribulations during our lives, designed to make us stronger and wiser and if we open ourselves up to it can help others down the road. I’ve alluded before to the fact that our lives traveled a parallel path up until the point that we met. Lots of great life experiences such as bringing wonderful children into the world and having a loving family. And then there were people that were sent into our lives to challenge who we were physically, spiritually and emotionally. At times such as those, it was hard to remember that we are still children of God and worthy of his love and grace.
As if God was orchestrating the symphony of our lives, and he was, we each broke free and found ourselves in Atlanta playing ‘The Love Game’ on the T-Mobile intranet. And then we met, and I knew that life would never be the same again. God had sent the kindest, gentlest, smart, talented, funny, generous man of my dreams to me. Mahalo Jehovah.
And as we left church the Sunday before Memorial Day, we decided to take a quick drive to Florida to go to the beach, knowing we both had to be back at work Tuesday morning. We talked and talked all the way there, enjoying each other’s company and planning for retirement. Dinner on the water once we arrived, then slept and got up early to spend a few hours at the beach before driving back to Atlanta. That would be the last time that myDarlin’ immersed himself in the ocean and was as happy as a man could be. On the drive back, we spied the Pure sign as we passed on a rural highway. And then myDarlin’ turned the car around and drove back to the abandoned gas station so that I could take a photo. Now that my Ohana, is pure love!
Today my heart is filled with gratitude for God blessing both myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope and me with a love that fairy tales are made of, a love that many never experience in their lifetime. And I look back I see that life is really about the journey, not the destination.
