Gratitude Journal – Day 92 – September 30, 2014

We all live….
in a yellow submarine. The registration for an upcoming forum asked a couple of questions, no doubt to collect data to prove/disprove previous leadership studies that will be referenced during said forum.
Q. If you won a million dollars a year for the rest of your life, what would you do?
A. Help others through volunteer work & finances, write a book and…. buy a yellow submarine!
You see, myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope was a Beatles fanatic, like so many others of our generation. Whenever he played the lottery and someone would ask, “what will you do if you win?” he would answer, “I’ll buy a yellow submarine!” I’ve always thought it comical, but then again he was quite the jokester, always making people laugh.
I’ve sung along with the song at least a hundred times, but until I just printed the lyrics I didn’t understand. You see myDarlin’ would talk of the water, the ocean often and what a major role it played in his life. It was a playground, a food source, a source of life that must be respected.
In the town where I was born,
Lived a man who sailed to sea,
And he told us of his life,
In the land of submarines.
So we sailed on to the sun,
Till we found a sea of green,
And we lived beneath the waves,
In our yellow submarine.
We all live in a yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
And our friends are all aboard,
Many more of them live next door,
And the band begins to play...
We all live in a yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
As we live a life of ease
Every one of us has all we need
Sky of blue and sea of green
In our yellow submarine
Friends, waves, a life of ease, abundance – all of these a way of life for us. And God’s love is the yellow submarine. We can take all of what we love and reside in the protection of God’s promise.
I am filled with gratitude as I find the small red notebook that he used to record his blood pressure in. And on the cover? A yellow submarine….
