retirement, a little over three years before myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope left us, is captured on the Flip recorder that has been tucked away in the glove box of Tacoma ever since. Blurry and wobbly at times, it is some of the best video I remember seeing in a very long time. For these videos (all 35 of them) capture his spirit, his laugh, his quirky one liners.
And as the day of our son’s graduation draws near, I can’t help but think of the videos that will never be as I imagine myDarlin’ making his rounds at his latest job saying Aloha to all of his co-workers.
Tonight I am filled with gratitude for the joy that myDarlin’s first retirement brought to him, to be able to work his schedule around his music instead of visa versa. Just hearing his laughter is enough to bring sonshine to my soul.
