Gratitude Journal – Day 320 – May 18, 2015

You are welcome...
in our house and HIS house. In searching to find an original file of a photograph, I took out a hard drive full of photographs and found a folder called ‘Taking Kawika Home – Jan 2012’ and the memories came flooding back. Ironically enough, the girls and I will be taking this same trek that myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope and I did three years ago and will travel the same roads and pass the same landmarks. And we will pass the home of Elvis where this shot was taken.
You are welcome….
And a friend posted this on my wall today written by a man so long ago, but yet only yesterday. It so accurately paints the picture of how our loved ones are a part of who we are, and remain with us in our hearts forever.
Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity of sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little joke that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, with the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. – Henry Scott Holland (1/27/1847-3/17/1918)
Tonight, I am grateful knowing that myDarlin’ has gone to HIS house, where we are always welcome and will one day again join him just around the corner.
