April found me very excited to be attending a three-day
Photoshop World event at The Cobb Galleria. I was so anxious to learn more
about photography and meet others that shared the same passion. As you can
imagine, parking at an event is a challenge, but I had the inside track. You see
myDarlin’ Robert worked in the kitchen right there at The Galleria, and his
usual starting time was long before anyone showed up for the events. He parked
on the top deck right near the entrance, and it just so happened that a couple
of the days he was leaving as I was arriving, so I got his primo parking space.
(Just another one of the many perks of being married to the most wonderful man
in the worldJ)
On the last day, I roamed the mall area, filled with quaint
boutiques, restaurants and a jewelry/bead shoppe. Another of my admitted
personal weaknesses is big, fun, funky jewelry so you can imagine my excitement
as I wandered about the shoppe. I spied a necklace with orange coral and mother
of pearl and thought that I really needed it, but decided to ask myDarlin’ what
he thought as he was coming to meet me for lunch after his shift. As it turns
out, he thought that I needed it as well, so I proceeded to purchase this gem
before we sat down to eat our Subway sandwiches, a meatball sub for him and a
chicken teriyaki for me. We talked of
Photoshop world, music, purchasing our tickets to Hawaii and yes, my new
necklace. (After all, I was tickled pink, or should I say orange?)
I shared my new bead shoppe discovery with a friend at work,
and before I knew it we both found ourselves there on our lunch hour. I stood touching the stones and running my
fingers over the finished pieces, while she carefully chose stones and beads
for a creation that existed only in her imagination. I wasn’t sure why, but I
soon found myself ordering a custom leather necklace with a sterling clasp to
use with some of my pendant pieces. An interesting black stone lie in a basket
on the counter amongst many brightly colored pieces, and I decided that I also
needed it with a sterling clasp. I chose a pair of fresh water pearl earrings,
and distinctly remember Leah saying to me that they would soon become my
favorite pair ever. I paid, and tucked my ticket safely away in my purse to
give to Robert to pick up my pieces the following week after he got off of
work.
That Sunday, I wore a pearl necklace and my new earrings…..
I have found myself wearing the same pair of earrings most days since then, and
they have become my favorite pair ever. My friend and I went back to the bead
shop this past week to pick up my leather necklace with the sterling clasp. I
know now that it was destined, from the moment the thought entered my
consciousness, to gently hold myDarlin’s wedding band close to my heart.
the wedding rings….. a symbol of our
eternal love, one that has no beginning and no end…
As I sit here in the late hours of the day, after the sun
has set, I wake myself from a dream only to realize that it wasn’t a dream at
all. I am eternally grateful for the past eleven years, which were a gift from
God himself to Robert and me. And when we opened the ribbons, we found
abundance enough to share with all who were open to accepting the gift of love
and friendship.
