Gratitude Journal – Day 29 – July 29, 2014

Share a Coke…..

with your Soulmate…. Genius marketing by Coca-Cola, isn’t it? This goes to prove that when an idea is ‘hatched’, it has the potential of making more of an impact than originally intended. myDarlin’ sent me a text the day before The Home Depot Shareholders Meeting at the Galleria with a photo of a can of Coke with his name on it, and I was impressed as they were not available in stores yet. (Background info – Robert Kenui Pope worked at the Galleria Convention Center, I work at THD and was there for a dry run).

So we grabbed lunch together before I headed back to work, and he left to go to his favorite new hangout Ronnie John’s Sunset Grille to help with painting. He showed me the Coke can, and said that he thought it made him look like a giant as it was very small and his hands were so large. Oh how I wish that I would have taken a photo of that….

For many, many years, we drank copious amounts of Coke, Diet Coke and Coke Zero, however after Robert’s heart attack in 2013; we were placed on a Drs. cease and desist order from caffeine. Realistically it was just him, but I chose to take the same path as we were partners in everything. After myDarlin’ left us, I found myself in the grocery store to pick up a couple of items, and saw a display of Coke with many cases facing me that said… ‘Share a Coke with your Soulmate’.

Today, I am filled with gratitude that I was able to share more than a Coke with my Soulmate. We shared everything; joy, fears & tears, hopes & dreams, love for our family & friends (Ohana), aspirations & inspirations, zest for experiencing life and spreading happiness. myDarlin’, when it’s time, I’ll bring a Coke with me to share with you, mySoulmate.
