Fingerprints….
… unique in every way, just like the DNA results, myDarlin’ Robert Kenui Pope was one in 155,734,174,965,461,000. No other man was or is exactly like him. myDarlin’ left an impression on everyone he met and even those whom he never had the pleasure of meeting.
As one makes their way through this journey we call life, opportunities present themselves to be kind to one another and ourselves. We ‘touch’ so many every day, yet are we leaving a positive impression? Will others look back over our life and remark on how we touched them in a special way? It only takes a moment to make a difference….
I opened the email titled Robert Pope Fingerprints, and found five attachments; one of each of his index fingers and thumbs, then one of all four prints. I tapped each file to open it, first the right index finger, then the right thumb, next was the left thumb and what I saw next took my breath away…. His left index finger seemed to be missing part of the print. His left index finger; the first one that wrapped around the neck of his bass, and for most of the years of his life held the first string. And then it dawned upon me that the part of the missing fingerprint is exactly where music fit in his life. Music made both his fingerprint and his life complete.
Looking back over our lives together, and even long before I was part of myDarlin’s Ohana, I am filled with gratitude that he touched so many lives – not only with his music, but with his loving and generous spirit.
