Gratitude Journal – Day 7 – July 7, 2014

Friends.....

On this seventh day of the month, I’d like to share what friends mean to us as a couple, a family and a community. Friends are like family, or Ohana and are a mainstay of our lives.
When Robert & I met 11 years ago, we knew very few people in the community outside of work. Both of us had recently relocated for work, which also provided us with an opportunity to write a new chapter in our book of life. Even though we were inseparable from the day we met, it took awhile for us to officially ‘move-in’ together. There is a photograph on the entertainment unit in our ‘Elvis Den’ that shows two younger, slimmer versions of us toasting to a new place and a new life together. Our ‘inside joke’ was that if we would have invited friends to celebrate with us…. If we had any! LOL!

Soon after, we hosted a dinner party for dear friends, Nancy & John, Michelle, and Florence of which I will treasure the memory forever. From there on, we began to get out into the music community, making friends wherever we would go because of his easy going Aloha spirit.

And now, we have friends, who have become our family or Ohana….. I am so grateful for all of you, our dear friends. All you need is Love!
