Reflections……..
As I reflect on the past eleven years with myDarlin’, I know that it has been the best a girl could ever hope for or imagine. The first time I heard Robert Kenui Pope’s kind, loving and a bit nervous voice was over the phone, before we ever met in person. We spoke for hours, in fact it was for four hours as we fell into a rhythm as if we were long lost friends with so much to catch up on.
The next day, I excitedly told my co-workers about this wonderful man and the incredible coincidence that he actually lived in Atlanta, was single AND over 40! Serendipity or simply God being anonymous, or is it really all one and the same? As I reflect on our life, it becomes even more evident that life is about focusing on enjoying the journey and living in the moment, rather than being so laser focused on the destination.
Our children, a Brady (or should I say Pope/Lugo) Bunch, are a reflection of our shared journey and values. As myDarlin’ and I tried our best to be a living example of how to approach life with love, fairness, adventure and fun, our children were watching. I think of the memorable poem, ‘Children Learn What They Live’ and know it to be true even if those children are adults. As you and I listened to each of our seven children share their memories of Robert during his service, I saw his reflection in each one of them and know that he is lovingly looking over us.
Do you like what you, your Ohana and the world see in your reflection?
